Los Angeles

2014 - 2020

After my time at Emerson, I decided to put my film degree to use by moving to Los Angeles. While working as a freelance production coordinator, I somehow found the time and the energy to continue making short films and expanding my photography. While this work was ultimately more commercial than experimental, it was a very influential time in my life in which I learned more about myself as a person and as an artist.

Ardent Spirits (2018)

Can you create a sensory experience working in a lab? Can chemicals come together to tell a story? Is the perfect intersection of art and science beer brewing?

Ardent Spirits follows Gwen Conley, San Diego's own Sensory Goddess of Beer, as she guides us through the art and science of brewing at The Lost Abbey. With a degree in chemistry and years of experience working in quality control labs, Gwen goes deep into the microbial science of beer, using her chemistry and sensory knowledge to educate and inform people about really good beer. Selected as part of the 2018 Boulder Film and Brew Festival.

Token of Love (2016)

An estranged mother and daughter learn the power of love... and weed. Token of Love, a short comedy about Frances and Mary who make a deal: the daughter will drive the mother to her breast cancer treatment everyday and sit with her, and in exchange, the mother will share her medical marijuana.

For me this was an experiment in giving actors the freedom to improvise and play with the dialogue to a degree I would not have thought possible in Boston. I am glad I did as the actors brought new light and warmth to the scene, possibly making this one of my personal favorites.

Poor Auteurs (2015)

Poor Auteurs is a podcast interviewing indie filmmakers and artists about making movies with no money!

Created when I had just moved to LA and needed some ideas on how to start my own career. Thank you to all of the artists who gave their time and insights for this project. All of the episodes are free and available on this page here.

Select Photography (2015 - 2019)

As I had just moved to a new city, I found that the best way to get to know Los Angeles was to take pictures of different neighborhoods and to challenge myself to take photos almost everyday. Later, I was fortunate in meeting a partner who loved to travel, and I got to take some amazing photos of different locations. Here is a collection of my best photos taken while I lived in Los Angeles.

Black and White Photography, taken as part of my photo-a-day challenge.

Desert photography, taken in various places like The Grand Canyon and Joshua Tree.

Photos taken in Italy, from Rome, Amalfi, Siena, and more.

Photos from Oregon, taken in Portland and the coastal areas.
