Token of Love (2016)
An estranged mother and daughter learn the power of love... and weed. Token of Love, a short comedy about Frances and Mary who make a deal: the daughter will drive the mother to her breast cancer treatment everyday and sit with her, and in exchange, the mother will share her medical marijuana.
Originally conceived as a pilot episode for a web series, in the end, I felt this film was strong enough (and funny enough) to stand on it’s own as a beautiful and endearing tribute to mother and daughter relationships.
Fairy Tale (2014)
A young girl discovers in her local library a magical portal to a world where all her dreams come true. But as she journeys farther into the spell, she begins to sense danger in the fantasy realm.
My thesis film for my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, which was heavily inspired by fairy tale films like Pan’s Labyrinth and Spirited Away. While maybe not my best film creatively, it was one of the best experiences I had in directing and unifying a crew to make something together with creative input and inspiration from all.
My Sister (2013)
Kelly's writing time is interrupted by her younger sister, Andrea, who for some reason insists on having swing dance practice in their room.
This short film was made as my final project for a class on directing image and sound. Even though this only cost $75 and was made in two weeks, it is probably the best film I have ever made. Sometimes less really is more.
This is Gospel Music Video (2013)
A young woman stands on the cusp of her bright future, but her past keeps pulling her back into the darkness. An unofficial music video for Panic! at the Disco’s song “This is Gospel”.
Written by my best friend Erin, this was the first time I was able to solely focus on creative directing without worrying about writing or producing. At first I was very hesitant to take on a heavy subject matter like domestic and physical abuse, but in the end I am glad I did and that I was able to bring my friend’s vision to life.
